Maven™ is an on-demand car sharing service within General Motors that is a smart alternative to traditional car rental and car ownership.
With free lifetime membership, you can reserve cars by the hour, the day and the month for personal use. We also offer a weekly rental program designed for rideshare and delivery drivers to use to earn an income in the freelance gig economy. We’re a growing business in over 17 North American cities, offering three primary services:
- Maven Car Sharing for a smarter way to get around the city; whether you’re running errands, going on an interview, or getting away for the weekend. It’s like having your own car only better. Owning an expensive asset like a car doesn’t always make sense for urban dwellers because research tells us cars typically sit idle in a city up to 95% of the day. Our cars are new, and filled with technology like *4G LTE WiFi™ connectivity, and **Apple CarPlay® compatibility. Your rental cost also covers gas and insurance (less the deductible). Cars are parked conveniently around the city, and available 24/7.
- Maven Gig is for drivers in the gig economy who need a car for a rideshare or delivery job. A personalized insurance document is provided to give you the freedom to register to drive for any rideshare or food, grocery and package delivery service. A low weekly rate includes unlimited mileage, insurance (less the deductible), routine maintenance and ***OnStar Roadside Assistance. If you reserve a Chevrolet Bolt EV (based on market availability), charging is also included. No long-term commitment is required with Maven Gig – members can return the car any time after 7 days with no penalty.
- Maven Home is an exclusive car sharing amenity for residential communities that provides members with access to a selection of cars parked right at their building.
In 2016, we launched across eight markets in eight months. Since then, we’ve expanded across the U.S. and into Canada and Australia. We’re redefining the future of mobility at an important, watershed moment as General Motors embarks on a future of zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion. Car sharing reduces congestion and helps everyone get there faster. Each shared car takes about 10 private cars off the road. On average, people who use roundtrip car sharing are more likely to leverage transportation options, including bus, rail, walking, biking and carpooling.
We’re able to leverage the insights gleaned from more than 200 million miles traveled over 100,000 rides to find barriers to sharing – and what we need to do to remove those barriers. By making car sharing easy, we will help move more quickly to a future world of zero congestion.
